NEW FREEDOM SCHOOL
Purpose
The New Freedom School (NFS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the African American community about the American politics, rights, and the electoral process with the goal of combating the overabundance of voter suppression within the American South. A relationship needs to be created between young people and civil rights networks to provide the necessary resources for their political campaigns.
NFS will bridge the gap and be the guidance in educating young people on the entire political process. We use the term “political process” to inform the young community about the “interaction between social groups and political institutions or between political leadership and public opinion”.
The goal is to increase the number of young African American voters and young African American candidates for each political office. Currently, the young African American community is under-represented in both areas and NFS will be the bond essential to the advancement of social change in Georgia.
